Maria is a London-based writer and producer. She writes across theatre, film and prose and loves all things magical realism, folky, queer and comedic.

Her co-written debut play premiered at Edinburgh Fringe 2023 after receiving the inaugural ‘Keep It Fringe’ award. Since then, her short horror film script ‘Birdhouse’ won ‘Best Short Script’ at LeedsFLIX 2026, and was a finalist in the 13Horror Screenplay Contest 2026. Her short story of the same name is due for publication in Mobius Boulevard Magazine in August 2026. Her 4-minute film ’Dear Toothfairy’ was a Best Micro Drama nominee at Little Flix 2026. She is currently developing her first feature script through her MA programme at Goldsmiths.

 

She is also the co-Artistic Director of 'Hey Thanks! Theatre Collective' - a queer and women-led theatre company based in London/Edinburgh.  Since launching in 2022, Hey Thanks! has produced four Edinburgh Fringe Productions, toured throughout the UK, and continues to host a calendar of community events for emerging artists across Edinburgh and London.  You can find more information on their website or on their Instagram @heythankstheatreco​.
